Healthwize Shark Liver Oil
Healthwize shark liver oil is produced under strict GMP conditions in New Zealand to ensure the highest quality standards are maintained. Each capsule contains at least 1000mg of shark liver oil which in turn contains 200mg of Alkoxy glycerols.Healthwize shark liver oil is taken from 100% premium New Zealand deep sea shark. Until a decade ago, when a growing number of supplement manufacturers began to take an interest in this nutritional aid, most shark livers were routinely thrown overboard. The oil is available as a by-product of the commercial fishing industry. Our shark liver oil is not taken from endangered species.
The Benefits of Shark Liver Oil
It has been extensively researched and scientifically proven that the active alkoxy glycerols in shark liver oil have a definite healing application.Alkoxy glycerols are present in human breast milk and have been found to play a vital role in forming a baby's immune defence system. It has been shown that breast-fed babies have a stronger immune system than bottle fed babies and that they retain this benefit throughout their life. Shark liver oil has many hundreds more times alkoxy glycerol content than human breast milk.
Indications for shark liver oil use would appear to be recurrent infections, strengthening the immune system, particularly in chronic degenerative diseases, beneficial for coughs, colds and influenza, important in tissue repair, delayed wound healing, acne and is recommended before, during and after radiation therapy.
Swedish scientists made the exciting discovery that shark liver oil, with its potent alkoxy glycerols:-
- Activated and enhanced the body's immune defense system.
- Stimulated the formation of anti-bodies, by increasing the number of white blood cells and thrombocytes in our blood.
- Diminished the harmful side effects following radiation therapy by leucopenia and thrombocytopenia, both of which invariably occur during the course of irradiation.
- The alkoxy glycerols neutralised and counteracted the detrimental changes in the blood cell ratio, caused by the treatment.
In the course of these extensive studies, it was observed and recorded that alkoxy glycerols, if taken for a period prior to radiation therapy, had an inhibiting effect upon abnormal cellular reproduction, and the results of these innovative discoveries were reported to the international scientific world, at the First International Symposium on Ether Lipids in Oncology, held in Germany in 1986.
Shark liver oil also contains squalamine which has shown some ability (in animal studies) to fight cancers of the breast, lung, brain, and skin (melanoma specifically) by choking off the tumor's blood supply. Human studies are under way.
Shark liver oil capsules also contain squalene, an antioxidant and bacteria-fighter. Also present are omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin A.
Shark Liver Oil: A Brief History
In the 18th century Norwegian fishermen discovered that oil extracted from the liver of the deep sea shark, sped up the repair of the skin if applied to wounds. They filled the stomach sacks of fish, with the shark's liver oil, and used it to alleviate respiratory tract infections. They also found through practical usage, that the oil strengthened them, especially when taken after illness, and that it reduced swelling and inflammation in the groin, armpits and neck (where the lymphatic nodes are situated).By the early 19th century, the use of shark liver oil had all but died out, apart from in a few isolated Scandinavian fishing communities. This valuable knowledge would have completely disappeared, had it not been for two Japanese scientists in 1922, who discovered a lipid which differs from the usual fatty substances, by the presence of a single atom of oxygen They called these healing molecules alkoxy glycerols. These molecules were synthesized in 1930, and then the research into their versatile healing applications progressed rapidly.
The technological advances of the 1940s and 1950s, enabled Swedish researchers Hallgren and Larrson, to undertake extremely specific studies of shark liver oil in the 1960s. The liver oil of the shark was found to contain extremely high concentrations of active alkoxy glycerols, and further scientific research was then undertaken over the next twenty years by other Swedish researchers.
